Day 6
Sunday, June 21, 2009 by admin.
“Vixen Vicky didn’t know who else to turn to when her husband, Vaporized Victor went missing. Only Patrick Irving, P.I. could solve this case.”
Considering Vaporized Victor was from the future, and these guys are from the past, I think the space-time continuum is about to shatter. I really can’t say, because I confused myself trying to tie these photos together.
By the way, this picture was taken in broad daylight.

Day 5
Saturday, June 20, 2009 by admin.
“Vaporized Victor had no idea what was in store for him when he picked a fight with Legless Larry and Four Eyed Fred.”
Props: Some dead grass, random LEGO pieces, a clump of dry dirt, my extremely burning driveway, and lots of imagination :). I should mention that 80% of this was my girlfriend’s idea, and after failing to mention so previously, I received some hate mail from an anonymous user. If only I knew who it was. . .
I did some heavy editing to this one, but the final image was somewhat accidental. The background really ended up blending well.

Day 4
Friday, June 19, 2009 by admin.
“Black Death Approaches.”
I got some new LEGO people from Ebay, and decided to put them to the test. Apparently this guy is part of a “space ninja” set, whatever that is. All I know is you’re not supposed to question ninjas, so I don’t. . . because I want to make it through the night in one piece.
I was actually in somewhat of a rush taking this shot. I opened my second story window, yanked out the screen, and used some sticky tack to keep his foot planted on the wall.

Day 3

“My Boyfriend Gave this to me!”
It was super windy today, so I only got this shot after 50 others. The rose weighed almost 3 times as much as her, so I’m not sure how I managed to balance it. I really enjoyed the simplicity of this shot, as well as the vivid colors.

Day 2
Wednesday, June 17, 2009 by admin.
“Ze Bullets do Nuhzing!”
First outdoor shot. I tried to picture how I would react if a giant shoe was about to smoosh me (Honey, I Shrunk the Kids). This poor guy doesn’t even know his gun is fake, so that’s like a double fail.

Day 1
Tuesday, June 16, 2009 by admin.
“Spiderman finally lost touch with reality and went on a webbing spree. This poor soul tried to defend himself with his briefcase.”
I mistakenly tried to do my first LEGO shot indoors, using a flourescent lamp and a regular desk lamp. The lighting looks flat and somewhat washed out, so I cheated and said it’s winter. Oh well. This is a learning process.

Hello World
Monday, June 15, 2009 by admin.
About me: I’m a Character Technical Directory working at Junction Point Studios/Disney Interactive in Austin, TX. We make video games, which oddly enough, I also enjoy playing :).
There’s so much to type on a first post, so I’ll cut to the chase. I got a new camera last week, something I’ve been meaning to do for quite some time now. It’s a Canon EOS 40D, and it came with a kit lens (28-135mm). I also picked up a cheap Canon 50mm f/1.8 just to have a prime.
I had this crazy idea to start taking pictures of LEGO people in situations that are normal for humans. At the time, it seemed original, and even practical (a method to keep me interested in photography, as well as to serve as a teaching tool). However, I’ve since found some inspiration from these two sources:

Needless to say, I no longer feel like it is an original idea, and I should note that these guys are definitely acting as an inspiration, but I hope people can still enjoy my take on it. If you have any LEGO scene ideas, feel free to let me know, and I’ll see what I can do. Feedback is always welcome. Let the daily adventures begin.
